I use a program on my Mac called 'Pages' to create the Polaroid-esque photos in my 'About' section. It's really simple - the program has different frames you can choose from and also lets you add shadows. Pages is part of iWork and is Apple's version of Word, but does so much more. I also use it to create my idea boards.

My favorite site for blog layout tips and tricks is Lawny Designs

I used this post to create my layout:

and tweaked it a bit to move the top sidebar section up (to make it adjacent to the header) as well as add a bottom sidebar section. It takes a bit of experimentation - just be sure to back up your existing layout first.

As far as background tiles, I like to go to a site like iStockphoto and type in something like 'gray textile'. You will get a ton of textured images. I download one that I like and crop it into a square shape to use as my background tile.

Oh, and it doesn't hurt to have a sister who is a graphic designer either! ;)

Thanks! I actually trying to come up with a new title for my blog that was broad enough to make sense with all of the various topics I write about, when I heard the Crosby, Still, & Nash song on the radio, 'Our House,' and I thought - we have two cats! (although not in the yard - they're inside cats. Well, we try to keep them inside - rascals!)

Now I just have to hope that they live a long time so I don't have to change the title to 'with one cat' or 'we used to have cats' or something like that...

We use it on top of the crib - it's the perfect height and very convenient! We recently removed it as Violet has started to pull herself up, but we mostly change her on the floor these days anyway as she is a squirmy little girl :) (Also night time changings have become a thing of the past as she sleeps through the night most of the time.) If you know someone who is handy, it is actually very easy to make yourself and MUCH more affordable, although the Oeuf version is gorgeous. Good luck!

Hi and thank you :) An idea board is basically a photo collage of items that will look good in your space. You send me information about the space and items you are looking for. Inspiration photos and photos of the space can be helpful as well. I will email you a board of all of the items grouped together so you can get a feel for what would look good in the space. I will also send you sources for each item so that you can purchase them if you'd like.

The room layout takes it a step further. You send me measurements and I will give you an image that shows you where to place the furniture items in your space. Hope that helps! If you have any other questions feel free to email me at withtwocats@gmail.com
